This trip spans two locations: “Little Havana” in Miami and Havana, Cuba – two cities linked by history, politics, stories, and imagination. We will explore the history that links these two cites, the politics of that relationship, the changing relationship between the US and Cuba over the last year, and the economic and cultural implications of all of this! A range of lectures, excursions, organized activities, and free time in the two locations allow students to compare the two cities, enriching their understanding of the countries and of geo-political relations in general.
The course is a travel writing course and includes a travel blog in English and Spanish. Check out the syllabus if you like, and take a look at our daily blog to see selections of what we saw, heard, smelled, tasted, and felt on our trip!
